YOUNG Glen Innes performer Kathryn Luxford may only be 12 years old, but she was keeping crowds pleased in Peel Street this week, busking along with the mass of artists looking to make their mark on the music industry as the Tamworth Country Music Festival continues.

Kathryn said the throngs of country music fans, and those newly converted to the ways of boots, buckles and blue jeans, welcomed her into the midst of country tunes ringing through the streets this week.
“I think I busked for like two hours yesterday,” she said
“A lot of people have liked the music that I’ve played.”
But it wasn’t all work for the young hopeful, who rattled off the star’s names with whom she had been rubbing elbows through the Festival.
“I’ve met a lot of famous people.”
“Mickey Pye, Elise Simmons, Liam Brew, Ashley Dallas, Ahsleigh Dallas, Missy Lancaster, one of the boys from Brothers 3,” she said, running through the collection of autographs on one of the Festival’s signature cowboy hats.
Kathryn said she has one more Festival performance tomorrow night, from 6pm on the TAFE stage, wrapping up a week of busking and appearances on the Festival’s Fanzone and Hog’s Breath stages.
It’s a timely week for the young artist, anticipating the release of her debut EP, boasting five original tracks, within the next four weeks.

Kathryn said the transition to song writing was an easy one and played to her eclectic tastes.
“I don’t really have a style, it’s kind of like everything mixed in together,” she said.
With the Tamworth Country Music Festival under he belt, and imminent EP release, Kathryn said her next move is back to the books, with school holidays wrapping up on Thursday, January 28.
