CENTRAL North District Bowling Association officials head to Narrabri on Saturday with a pennant proposal for Zone 3 delegates to consider.

CNDBA’s Peter Kachel said the proposal is part of a busy weekend for local CNDBA clubs.
“Our CNDBA president Rob Key, North Tamworth president Dick Russell and Junior delegate Ian “Chesty” Bannister are travelling to Narrabri this Saturday for the Zone Pennant meeting,” Kachel said.
“They are putting forward a motion to have pennant bowls played within the district.”
The CNDBA feels it will enhance local competition, Kachel added of a weekend that will be highlighted by a major two-day tournament at South Tamworth Bowling Club.
“It was to be the South Tamworth Spring Open Pairs but that has changed to the South Tamworth October Major Minor 2-4-2 Pairs,” Kachel said.
“Total prize money is $3500 and it costs $100 per team to enter.”
He said interested players can contact the South Tamworth club by phone (6765 5766) or email (bowls@southbowlotamworth.com.au).
“Play starts at 9am Saturday,” he said.
He also advised junior coaching restarts at Oxley this Saturday from 9.30am and will continue each Saturday morning at Oxley Bowling Club until the end of October.
“As there will be coaches at Oxley Bowling Club, the CNDBA have decided to also open this session (along with juniors) to any person that wants to find out about lawn bowl. I
“It is a great way to exercise and social outcomes are endless.”
He extended an open invitation to the community to attend.
“You can have a chat to a coach about the game and if still interested have a game of bowls,” he said.
“Bowls are provided and you will need flat shoes or go barefoot. It runs from 9.30am to about 11.30am and the cost is only $5. There will be coaches available so the session is also open to any bowler who wishes to sort out a problem with there bowling. $5 for the session.”
