Hodge kicked six although was outdone by Dan Overeem who kicked seven as the Roos piled on 24 goals and 21 behinds (165) to the Suns’ 6.7.43.
Despite the scoreline, Hodge said the side wasn’t at its best, coming off a big loss against the Nomads last week and then coming into a dead rubber against the luckless Suns.
“We were just a bit flat,” Hodge said.
“We have been decimated by injuries over the last few weeks.
“The team has the depth to cover it but it makes a big difference to our structure.”
Dean Hoy played out of position in the middle on Saturday and shone, as did Dan Ray in the ruck.
“Dan dominated in the ruck and Dean had an amazing attacking game out of position,” Hodge said.
“Chris Pollock also kicked a few and was dangerous all over the ground.”
In other matches, the Inverell Saints hosted arch rivals and defending premiers the New England Nomads.
The two sides have met in all but a few finals over the past ten years and this one went the same way as the last couple have.
The Nomads typically moved the Saints around the park, feeding the ball forward to skipper Zac Economou who nailed five goals in an appearance up front, with Jed Ellis-Cluff right beside him with four.
Tom Granleese was at his best at the back for the reigning premiers, turning defence into attack with a huge presence on the ground and in the air.
