The two met only a fortnight ago, with the Bulls returning serve to the Blue Boars and bagging the points.
The Blue Boars did enough though to snaffle the minor premiership and earn the right to host the major semi-final.
It was a see-sawing and physical affair and not without its share of casualties.
Bulls co-coach Simon Hall was one of those and will have to watch from the sidelines today after breaking his arm.
He had surgery last Friday and a plate put in.
He will watch though with the comfort of knowing that if they can reproduce their first 30 from that last game they will take some beating.
It was up there with some of the best rugby they’ve played all year, and how they have to play today.
They just controlled the ball and, through that, the game.
“When we can control a match that’s when we play our best footy,” Hall said.
He felt that if they can control the field position and control how and where they get possession it will go a long way to them coming out on top.
As good as the first half an hour was though, they were pretty terrible for the next 50.
They still managed to get away with the win but will need to be better at dealing with the disruption of players leaving the field.
It seemed to throw them off their game a bit.
For one, losing John Adams after he came off second best in a head clash with skipper Ben Colley really hurt their set pieces.
“When Johnny went off we lost two or three tight heads,” Hall said.
“Our lineout was also a bit iffy.”
They’ll need to get them right today.
Hall was happy to deflect favourtism to the Blue Boars and, not surprisingly, pinpointed Tim O’Brien and skipper Matt Schwager as the two they most need to limit the impact of.
“We’ve got to control Tim O’Brien at the breakdown and control Matt Schwager,” he said.
“He’s their big threat around the ruck and opens the space elsewhere around the park.”
Hall is one of a couple of changes to the side that faced the Blue Boars, with Chris Clyne making his long- awaited return in the second row.
He comes in for Fraser Brown, while Matt Wannan returns at eight in place of Hall.
Dan Taunton also gets a start up front.
Damien Meppem and Jordan Cosh come back into the centres, with Heath Riggs pushing back to fullback.
The Blue Boars have named an unchanged side, with Matt McDonnell remaining at inside centre.
