This year 23 dealers, including seven who haven’t previously attended the Tamworth fair, will be offering a wide range of collectable items for sale.
Items include Australian and English furniture, china, coins, medals to jewellery, badges and silk embroideries.
“The present prices of antiques are the best they have been for a very long time, and now may be the ideal time to start collecting or add to the valuables you already have,” fair organising committee member Euan Coutts said.
He said the cost of most items appear to be on par with their 2014 price tags, especially jewellery items.
“You have to remember that purchasing antique and collectable items is a long-term investment, as fashions, or what is popular, is always changing.”
Mr Coutts said some of the many items of interest include taxidermy and minute, apprentice, furniture items.
The doors open at 2pm today and the fair will be officially opened by the director of Tamworth’s Network of Public Schools NSW, Ruythe Dufty at 6pm.
It is open tomorrow 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
Admission to the hall is $7 for adults and children accompanied by an adult are admitted free.
The fair is Oxley High School’s major fundraising event of the year and all proceeds go towards the purchase of much-needed school items.
