Chandlers Tree Service is already through to next week’s final after two wins.
They play Psarakis Accounting in their final round match tomorrow while the other game will be a “qualifying final”, reports Firefly Finance co-coach Dave King.
“Whoever wins will be in the final,” he said of the Firefly Finance and Mick Martin Electronic Security game.
“We beat them we’re in and play Chandlers Tree Service.”
However, the Fireflys will be missing a few players, making that game a tough one for them.
With something like five of their side missing through work and other commitments the Fireflies will do well to light up.
TBA’s Robert Chandler is hoping to organise some replacements to ensure they give the Mick Martin Electronic Security side a lively encounter.
Despite the player drain Chandler is delighted with the Charity League’s debut.
“Everyone’s rapt with it, the vibe has been positive from everyone down there,” Chandler, one of the organisers of the month-long Charity League said.
“We had a beer pong night at the West Bowlo after last Saturday’s games,” he said.
“Everyone went and smashed it. We raised another couple of hundred for charity as well – that all goes into the pot.”
All money raised from the Tamworth Charity League goes to nominated charities of the four teams.
So far around $2000 has been raised in fines and other functions such as the beer pong.
After next week’s final the winning team will take 50 per cent of the pool for their charity with the rest of the money split 25 per cent, 15% per cent and 10 per cent to the second, third and fourth placed teams.
It promises to be big finale to the unique Charity League with the Blue Sox mascot on hand with NSW development officer Garry Everson to promote a day that will be literally jumping with a jumping castle for the children.
“It’s also going to be a come-and-try day as well, Chandler said.
“We’ll have a batting cage for anyone that wants to have a bash, or they can hit off a tee. But it will be fun. Hopefully we’ll raise a bit more for the various charities. The umpires have also agreed to donate their umpiring fees as well. That’s a fantastic gesture by them.”
