In fact, his group of runners seems to be growing.
And the success the young runners have been achieving at various carnivals has been heart-warming for Warner.
“They have all been working hard,” he said.
“Some have been training six days a week. The only day we miss out is Friday.”
Just recently, some of his troupe competed in the North West Regional Cross Country Championships at Coolah Golf Club.
It was an enormously successful carnival for Tamworth Zone runners, with 19 winning berths in the North West team to compete at the NSW All Schools Cross Country titles at Eastern Creek on Friday, July 17.
Some of Warner’s group had big days at Coolah, runners such as Paige Levingston (gold) and Adam Williams (silver) running themselves into contention for NSW All Schools success.
“All of the kids are running very well,” Warner said.
“I’m hoping they can all go to the next level.”
He gives his time free of charge too.
“All I do is teach them how to run properly,” he said.
He’s been trying to do that for many years too.
He also plays no favourites.
“I give all the children the same training.
“Work them all the same.
“Six days a week and 50 weeks a year. I love doing it.”
He has 55 young athletes currently training with him.
