CRL boss Terry Quinn will be in Tamworth tomorrow with the NRL’s Head of Football Todd Greenberg and NSWRL boss Dave Trodden to officially announce the game.
This weekend West Lions and West Diggers will play their deferred match at the ground as the first official match on the new surface along with a NSW State Cup match, Group 4 president Mick Schmiedel said.
“The West Lions-Diggers match starts at 3.30pm and the Manly-North Sydney game at 6pm.
“We’re hoping to have a group shot of the two teams (West and Diggers) taken at 3.15pm as well as something to remember the first game on the new Scully Park.”
The Lions-Diggers match will complete the round which began with Narrabri’s 38-12 win over Gunnedah at Collins Park on Sunday.
It was a big result for Narrabri captain-coach Lachlan Cameron as he also played in Saturday’s AAMI Country Championship match for Greater Northern Tigers against Western Rams in Bathurst.
The Tigers won 48-40 to guarantee a semi-final berth against North Coast in Camden on June 13.
Cameron also picked up the three points in The Northern Daily Leader Group 4 Player of the Year on Sunday.
It was Cameron’s second three-pointer of the season and took him to equal second on G4 Player of the Year table, two points behind West Lion and GN Tiger teammate Matt Nean.
Young Narrabri Blues utility Sam Sadler also moved up the table when he polled the two points and sits in outright fifth on five points, one point behind his captain-coach, North Tamworth’s Scott Blanch and West Lion fullback Dylan Lake.
