The two captain coaches are part of the Greater Northern Tigers side that is playing the first round of the Tier 2 Country Championships against Western Division today in Bathurst.
The Tigers are well represented by Group 4 with seven inclusions after Cameron led the Group to victory at the championships earlier in the year.
The Blues skipper said pulling on the Tigers strip was going to be a very proud moment for him.
“It was great to get the chance to play for the group and I am really looking forward to the next step.”
“There is some quality players in that side like Daniel Ritter.”
“I got to play against him and I am sure it is better to play with him.”
Cameron said it is going to be a hectic weekend of footy, especially backing up in an already depleted Blues outfit that are struggling for consistency.
They could do with the likes of Brendan Tago, who played in their forwards last year but will now line up for Western Region against the Tigers after a move to the Parkes Spacemen this season.
“I got an early morning message from Brendan as soon as they made it through to play us,” Cameron said.
“It said see you in a few weeks – I can’t wait to play against him and catch up.”
Gunnedah will have two players backing up on Sunday, with fullback Aaron Donnelly also getting a start for the Tigers.
The last time the two sides met Narrabri pulled off a remarkable comeback to pip the Bulldogs 38-34, although Cameron is hoping they don’t get put in that position again.
The Blues have had some issues with ball control, although when they do hold it they create plenty of opportunities.
They will miss dynamic back Dylan Walford, who is away for the week, as well as halfback Justin Knight, who is battling an injured ankle.
The two play key attacking roles and will be missed, although Cameron believes the Blues have got the game to win on Sunday, and hopes that the Tigers do too.
