Booths will be set up at Walcha Central School and Woolbrook Public School only, which leaves Nowendoc residents with the choice of pre-polling or driving all the way into Walcha, about 70km, on the day.
Nowendoc resident Max Holstein was very unhappy about the decision to scrap their polling booth.
“It’s pretty rough – we are pretty isolated here,” he told the Walcha News.
“To have to drive to Walcha and back; you may as well just pay the fine and not vote.”
Mr Holstein said a lot of people travelling through had also used the booth in the past.
“There’s no waiting time,” he said.
“You can go straight in and vote and then leave again.
“I can’t see how the [Electoral Commission] would save much money by not having the Nowendoc booth there.”
