In Taree the Simon Hood-coached Tamworth Under 16s had their first win of the Stan Austin Shield Carnival when registering a six-wicket win.
At Ballina the James Haling-coached Tamworth Under 13s went the other way and suffered a big loss to Newcastle while the Bede Maher and Peter Mead-coached Tamworth Under 12s had two 25-over-a-side game wins in the Ballina Under 12 carnival.
The Tamworth Under 12s started their day well, routing South East Queensland for just 29 and then taking just nine overs to polish off the runs, two wickets down.
Lara Graham led the way for her Tamworth Under 12s with an impressive bowling display against SEQ, claiming 2-7 from her 3.2 overs of magnificent little outswingers.
Josh Attard (2-3), Joey Mead (1-0), Jess Davidson (1-10) and Matt Holmes (2-0) also excelled while Oscar Spinks grabbed three catches and effected a run out to produce a little rain dance of his own.
Jack Craig (9), Ben Wallace (7), Luke Maher (7no) and Josh Attard (3no) then made the necessary runs.
The 12s were then engaged in a much tougher afternoon 25-over-a-side game against Illawarra but dismissed the Wollongongers for 78 and then swept to 4-80 with five overs to spare.
Player of the match Jess Davidson (30 retired) and Lachlan Wesierski (19) batted well.
“They were two very good wins,” said co-coach Peter Mead.
“We’ve had a great day in downtown Lismore, been outstanding.”
Lara Graham repeated her morning bowling effort to capture another 2-7 while Joey Mead also excelled with the cherry capturing 2-6. Josh Attard (1-11), Oscar Spinks (1-21), Luke Maher (2-13), Matt Holmes (1-4) and Jess Davidson (1-14) all chipped in with the ball while Luke Maher also took three catches at midwicket.
In Ballina the James Haling-coached Under 13s were chasing Newcastle’s 5-229 but fell for 95.
Will Meyers claimed 2-26 for Tamworth while Ryan Rogers (31no) topscored in the batting.
Tamworth was 6-35 at one stage but Rogers helped add 60 for the final four wickets. Thomas Haling (12) and Liam Rodgers (7) were next best.
The Simon Hood-coached Tamworth 16s, after disappointing losses on the first two days in its Stan Austin Shield Under 16 Carnival in Taree, bounced back with a good win against West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook.
Cooper Barnes (4-20 off 8 overs) led the Tamworth attack as it dismissed the Sydney side for 109.
Lachlan Davidson (1-13 off 8), Harrison Hague (2-28 off 7) and Sam Attwell (2-18 off 7) had good success with the ball while Liam Dunn earned plenty of praise from his coach despite not taking a wicket.
“He finished with 0-12 off 10 overs including four maidens,” Hood told The Leader.
Tamworth then made 4-114 with Lachlan Fauchon (27), Adam Cruickshank (24) and Lachlan Davidson (23no) topscoring.
“Lachlan Fauchon and Adam Cruickshank put on 49 for the third wicket,” Hood said.
“It was good to chalk up a win especially after yesterday’s performance (dismissed for 33). It showed what they can do. They fielded beautifully and bowled well with a couple of good partnerships.”
