SKIPPER Matt Everett hadn’t seen it before while Peter Mead is hoping the return of two batsmen can make a difference when Bective-East and City United resume their Tamworth first grade clash at Chaffey Park this Saturday.

Bective Bulls made 309 in their two- day clash on Saturday to place them in a terrific position.
“It’s the first time we’ve made 300 since I’ve been here,” Everett smiled.
“It’s been a hot day and just about everyone stepped up with the bat,” he said of a side where eight of the top nine bats made 20 or more.
“It shows we have a fair bit of batting depth.”
Topscorers were Nick Pearson (54) and Mark Slack-Smith (61).
Pearson wasted the opportunity to score a century while Slack-Smith was having his first bat for a while.
“It was Mark’s first game back in a couple of seasons,” Everett said.
“To have him go so well first up was great.
“A few of us made starts and didn’t go on with it. I didn’t.
“Nick was a big culprit.”
He did pay plenty of praise to City United paceman Jack McVey.
“He bowled three very good spells,” he said.
Stand-in City United skipper Peter Mead thought his side bowled well despite the scorebook reading 309 for Bective.
“I thought we got back in the game after the first session,” Mead said.
“Jack bowled a great spell. He was a great inspiration for us.
“And Ben’s second spell was special too,” he said of fellow opener Ben Semmler.
“Dan Lawrence did a great job too and Tait Jordan is a young bowler improving all the time.
“They all worked hard today in the heat.
“So we can take a lot of positives out of that.
“We also get Ryan (Meppem) and Simon (Toyer) back next week. Two batsmen and our captain.
“The wicket was a road today but could play a little two-paced too.”
