The Oxley Vale Attunga striker, who scored a brilliant hat trick in the recent 6-2 NIF grand final win over South Armidale, was at his goalscoring best again at Doody Park on Saturday.
Purcell scored one of the three goals in the 3-1 win by his Southern All Stars side against the Northern All Stars.
OVA teammate Brendan Fergie also scored for the South along with Tamworth FC’s Kelly Nystrom while Josh Quaife scored the Northern All Stars lone goal from the penalty spot in the first half.
The representative fixture was part of a big finish to the season for Northern Inland Football with Southern and Northern Rising Stars also playing a 1-all draw earlier in the day and then all the NIF clubs sitting down to a presentation night at the Armidale City Bowling Club.
“It was a great way to finish the season,” said NIF general manager Steve Griffith.
“We had two quality games although the players did find it tough going in the heat after a few weeks off. Next year we hope to play the games and have the presentation night the week after the grand finals.”
