North Tamworth Bears, who have all four grades in grand finals at their home Jack Woolaston Oval, and are chasing a second Clayton Cup, celebrated first, second grade, and ladies league tag minor premierships as well as a club championship last night.
While Jake Cocking was named rookie of the year Leica Le Brocq won the first Ladies League Tag best and fairest.
Kootingal’s Mandy Sullivan won the Wayne Cadman and Associates Ladies League Tag best and fairest in the Group 4 Shield.
It was a narrow win from Walcha Jillaroo captain Robyn Broadbent. Boggabri prop Ben Haire won the shield best and fairest by five points from Kootingal Rooster Matt McCulloch.
McCulloch and his Rooster team-mates will be playing the Dungowan Cowboys in Saturday’s grand final at Kootingal Oval.
Emulating Trent Hilton in the Under 18s was Gunnedah backrower Matt Hassan.
The talented forward beat Narrabri’s Sam Sadler by three points in the Under 18 best and fairest.
Sadler and his Blues will tackle North Tamworth Bears in Sunday’s grand final.
The Bears will be without Corey Manicaros and Tye Barry. They fly out for NZ on Saturday to play two games for the NSW CHS Under 17 Development Squad.
