Reigning premier Warrior Rainbows belted Cougars 17-nil while the Warrior Blues beat Knights 10-3 on the John Carter Diamond.
“They were too good, out hit us and outplayed us,” said Knights skipper Aaron Harding.
“It’s not the form we wanted to take into the semis but we did have three out and should be close to full strength this weekend.”
The Knights play Cougars in the minor semi and need to rediscover their potent batting form after coming up with just six hits against the Blues.
Grant Sippel (2) and Harding (2) were the only batters to have multiple hits after Sippel also relieved Al Brand on the mound.
“Mick Aldiss threw pretty well for them and then Ryan Handsaker relieved him and threw well too,” Harding said. Blues catcher Chris Dyson said Aldiss and Handsaker were in good form with John Warren arriving late to finish off. “Mick had a good day too,” Dyson said of the left handed pitcher who bats right handed.
“He had three hits and is going to be really handy in the next few weeks.
“Nathan (2), Mick Martin (2) and Ryan (Handsaker) also had two hits said the skipper who also had two hits.
“Everyone else – Vali Orcher, Jungles (James Ardill), Brent King and Will Burke also had hits.”
Warriors Rainbow captain-coach Robert Chandler was delighted with his young side’s performance.
“They are a good bunch of kids.
“We only made one error and only allowed them (Cougars) four hits.
“Jeff (Chandler) threw five innings and James (Psarakis) two.”
The seven-inning mercy rule was applied against a Cougars who had Aaron Mckay starting on the mound and with Brock Ridgewell relieving.
Lachlan Ng (3), Joey Holt (3), Jeff Chandler (2) and Robert Chandler (2) all had hits.
“I think this is the strongest our club has been for a long while,” Chandler said after the two first grade sides had finished joint minor premiers (18 points apiece) and the second grade finished unbeaten minor premiers.
