The cycling event will see more than 300 riders careen through the picturesque Peel Valley in a bid to raise $20,000 for local charities, including the Salvation Army Tamworth, Billabong Clubhouse Tamworth, Alzheimer’s Australia and Youth Insearch.
An energetic team of cyclists from Youth Insearch will be riding and the organisation will be funnelling its portion of the raised money into its annual camp. Brodie Dyson was looking forward to the bike event and was eager to ride 55km, though the team are signed up for 30km.
“The camp is for kids who haven’t had love and are on drugs and have had a hard life – to give them a better chance,” he said.
Ron Carr co-ordinates the Youth Insearch program and said the cyclists had been training hard. The challenge is on Sunday, October 12, and will begin at Moore Creek Tennis Club, with cyclists electing to ride 15km, 30km, 55km or an epic 115km.
Anyone who can volunteer on the day should call Jim Raymond on 0411 737 345.
