A-mending Angel owner Carolyn Donovan said extensive renovations to the Central Hotel building ahead of a planned makeover into a cocktail bar and upmarket accommodation had forced the move.
Ms Donovan said the Atrium atmosphere was “like a little street” and the other shop owners and centre management had been very welcoming.
“It’s only been a few days but it’s already put a smile on my face,” she said.
A-Mending Angel had been at its former site for a little over six years.
“I was very happy with where I was but it was only circumstances which caused the move,” Ms Donovan said.
Altering hemlines was her bread and butter, she said.
“I do offer a same-day service on unlined hems – I’m never too busy for just an unlined hem,” she said.
Atrium managing director Bruce Read said Ms Donovan’s move into the centre followed Ashcroft Property’s move earlier this year.
He said he was very pleased the upstairs business/office section had almost filled its last two lease sites since being officially opened by former mayor James Treloar in June 2009.
“There are just two out of 30 office spaces left to lease – and one out of those two is available for permanent lease, as the other is being kept for the Atrium’s long list of casual tenants,” Mr Read said.
Some of the business tenants upstairs include Cooper Business Services; Qualibuilt Constructions; i.care Psychology and the Rebel Ant Brewing Company. The latest tenant to climb aboard is Hillross Tamworth.
The original Tamworth Arcade underwent a substantial refurbishment in 2008 and was rebranded The Atrium Shopping Centre. A-Mending Angel’s move into the centre means the centre is now fully tenanted with a diverse range of boutique and national tenants.
