Rebecca Mannion, 36, walked into Armidale Local Court supported by family after she was granted bail in February.

Mannion is charged with three offences including affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sexual assault in company and inflict actual bodily harm, but a brief of evidence still has outstanding items.

Crown prosecutor Peter Woods asked for an adjournment telling the court a statement from the informant was still to be collected along with 

custody management records, and a forensic procedure statement among others.

But Magistrate Karen Stafford has questioned the delays.

“This offence is alleged to have occurred in January, why haven’t the police finished it?” she asked.

Mannion’s solicitor Chelsea Schaefer said a partial brief had been served.

“It is quite lengthy,” Mrs Schaefer told the court. “Thirty one items have been served.”

Mrs Schaefer said the defence “are relying on” an expert statement which is yet to be delivered.

Police allege Mannion was involved in a violent attack on January 26 in Deepwater.

Mannion was arrested on January 31 and remained in custody for almost a month before she was granted strict bail.

A victim injured during the alleged incident was later treated in hospital before being released.

Many details surrounding the case including any co-accused have been suppressed for legal 

reasons.

Magistrate Stafford has granted police extra time to compile the outstanding evidence but has warned detectives will be called to explain if the case does not proceed on the next occasion in May.
