Armidale Dumaresq Council said a temporary solution to problems with the area’s toilet facilities had been found to allow them to be used again for day visitors. The dam was closed 10 days ago after a failure of the site’s septic tank. The council said a routine inspection of the wastewater system found faults and campers were asked to leave. A council spokesman said the temporary fix did not allow for the system to cope with the extra load of overnight camping.
Mayor Laurie Bishop said he was pleased day trippers had access again and he hoped campers would be allowed back in soon.
