The two coxed fours will compete against other school and club teams at the titles to be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC) at Penrith.
The event will be the major preview event before the Athletic Association of Great Public Schools of NSW (AAGPSNSW) Head of the River on March 9, generally regarded as the pinnacle of schoolboy rowing.
Preparation has included training camps at Sydney in December, and Southport in Queensland.
Rowing MIC Will Caldwell said the crews were excited and enthusiastic about the regattas, following the school’s debut appearance at the Head of the River last year.
Training is done at Malpas Dam north of Armidale.
“I’m extremely happy with the way the boys have developed and progressed, both in terms of their technique and as a cohesive and harmonious team,” he said.
“ They are determined to do well and are committed to the challenges in front of them.”
The fledgling rowing program at TAS has been supported by other schools and institutions, including Macquarie University, UNSW, Sydney Grammar School, St Ignatius College Riverview, MLC School, The Southport School and Olds Boys and parents of last year’s crew who have donated two “fours” and a training “eight’”.
