Werris Creek is today and Tamworth City tomorrow.
The City carnival will be the last qualifying carnival for the NSW Country Championships to be held at Homebush on February 23 and 24.
It will also be for members of City and Gunnedah clubs a chance to catch up after they recently joined forces.
Seventeen swimmers from the two clubs travelled together to Lismore late last month to compete in the NSW Country Regional Championships.
The swimmers were encouraged to swap ideas, discuss training schedules and solve problems in a team environment.
Coaches Nicolas Monet (Tamworth) and Pat McAdam (Gunnedah) were also able to liaise and compare notes and, due to the overwhelming success of the trip, the two coaches have decided to repeat the experience next year.
The “Gunworth” swimmers performed well, with several recording personal best times despite horrible weather conditions, and a number picking up medals.
Mikaela Short was a standout. She was first in her 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Bayley Williams was placed first in the 100m backstroke and third in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, while Annie Hobson picked up silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m.
Nathan Summers and Grace McLean both did likewise, but in the 50m breaststroke (second) and 100m (third).
Molly Johns also placed in multiple events and returned with three thirds – in the 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke – while Amelia Summers came second in the 200m individual medley and second in the 200m breaststroke.
