As will the National Finals champions, with tonight’s round the finale of this year’s finals.
Thursday’s second round saw some good scores and times.
Coonamble’s Nathan Burtenshaw took home the winner’s cheque in the Bull Ride with 88 points.
Brad Pierce and David Worsfold both scored 78 to top the two bronc events – Piece the Saddle Bronc and Worsfold the Bareback.
Cody Sheahan was extremely fast with a time of 4.51 seconds to win the Steerwrestling event, while Tamworth’s Blayne Parkinson’s 13.89secs was the quickest in the Rope and Tie.
The competition was close in the Team Roping, with the money going to Ben Smith and Troy O’Neile for their time of 7.50secs.
North Queensland competitor Suzie Fearon was quick off the mark in the Steer Undecorating, stopping the clocks at 2.98secs.
With the time being recorded back to one hundredth of a second you would think a tie in the Barrel Race would be just about impossible but the round proved otherwise.
All Round Cowgirl Nichole Fitzpatrick and Barrel Racing champion Bianca Hertel couldn’t be split, with both rounding the three barrels in 17.56secs to share first place.
Kellie Salter was on top in the Breakaway Roping with a time of 2.77 seconds.
The Bull Fighter of the Year was also awarded on the night to Manilla’s Lincoln Brown, receiving the award for the third time.
Yesterday also saw the first day of competition in the National Finals Campdraft.
Two rounds of the Encouragement, Junior, Juvenile, Open Horse, Ladies and Open Rider were run along with the first rounds of the Maiden and Novice with competition extending into the night.
