Mr Torbay is running against independent Tony Windsor in this year’s federal election and has established his campaign headquarters just a few blocks down from the incumbent MP’s office, next to the council building.
Former 2TM newsreader and Tamworth Regional Council candidate Kimberley Sherwood has been employed to man the office full-time and will be assisted by volunteers.
Mr Torbay said while the office would not be fully set up until next week, he planned to start using it tomorrow when he visited the area.
He said the new office would give people the opportunity to deliver messages, arrange meetings and ask questions.
Mr Torbay told The Leader there had been a significant response to a survey of the electorate and that a number of issues had been raised that he hoped to start discussions on.
