It comes after a Nundle mother discovered a mound of dumped household rubbish when she took her family for a swim at Chaffey Dam near Nundle.
“I took the kids for a swim near the Chaffey Dam wall (last week),” Kelly Bridge told The Leader.
“You can’t see the rubbish unless you go for a swim there.
“It looks like someone has just dumped their household rubbish.”
Miss Bridge reported the dumping to Tamworth Regional Council shortly after.
“It was very disappointing (to find the rubbish),” she said.
“It’s going to end up in the Peel River if we ever get decent rain.
“It just annoys me that either side there’s Nundle and Dungowan, and they dump it right in the middle.”
Tamworth Regional Council sustainability coordinator Tracey Carr said it’s easy for the community to report illegal dumping.
“Residents can download the free MyTRC app and easily report illegal dumping,” she said.
“They can also contact council on 6767 5555.
“We have had incidents of illegal dumping previously reported where the person has been caught on CCTV – I’d like to remind people that you can easily dispose of your household rubbish and larger items at landfill sites around the Region.
“If you aren’t sure on how to do this, please contact council.”
