The Forest Rd tip will be taking trash once again from Boxing Day, while the region’s smaller landfills will be open sporadically over the holiday period.
The marsupial park and botanical gardens will be shut solely on Christmas, returning to normal opening hours on December 26.
The city library and art gallery will reopen from December 27, with a new exhibition showcasing “Portrait stories from Australians of the Year” from the National Portrait Gallery.
Areas such as South Tamworth, Manilla and Barraba whose collection day is due on a Monday, will have their bins collected according to the usual scheduled day.

Ray Walsh House and council offices in Manilla, Barraba, and Nundle close their doors of Friday, December 22 and won’t reopen until Tuesday, January 2.
The Youthie in Coledale is also taking a break from Friday before returning on January 2 and rolling back into its school holiday program.
And it won’t just be Santa Claus working hard on Christmas morning, local garbos will still be collecting rubbish on the big day.
“Areas such as South Tamworth, Manilla and Barraba whose collection day is due on a Monday, will have their bins collected according to the usual scheduled day,” a council spokesperson said.
The clangour of the bins will probably start from 4am on Christmas morning when Cleanaway is due to start its collection.
“The earlier start will allow Tamworth Regional Council staff at the Forest Road Waste Management Facility and Cleanaway team members to finish their work in time to get home to have Christmas lunch and spend some time with their families,” the spokesperson said.
“The region’s waste management facilities at Tamworth and Barraba which are normally open on a Monday will be closed on Christmas Day. They will re-open on their next scheduled day of operation.
“Kootingal Waste Transfer Station will be closed on Boxing Day.”
