Miss Teen Australia and World Supermodel Australia are looking for Tamworth’s next top model and a couple of locals are ready to take up the challenge.
Abby Stevenson, 16, is trying to keep her star on the rise entering in the Miss Teen Australia competition.
Ms Stevenson was recently named a state finalist in the Girlfriend Magazine modelling search.
“I’ve always wanted to model ever since I was young,” Ms Stevenson said.
The McCarthy Catholic College student was happy to just gain experience from the competition, but said it was part of chipping away towards her dream career.
“I have to finish school first, but the goal is to get with an agency,” she said.
“I have approached some [agencies] and I’ve had good feedback.”
Lea Gilchrist, 18, is trying her hand at the World Supermodel competition and said it was an opportunity local aspiring models.
“Trying to get out there when you’re in Tamworth is hard, you have to start with things like this and just grab everything you can,” Ms Gilchrist said.
She was also hoping just to gain modelling experience from the competition, as she heads off to university in 2017 to study a degree in economics.
