Rotary Club of Tamworth West and West Tamworth Bowling Club ran the service with the support of the Tamworth RSL Brass Band, Australian Defence Force and Tamworth RSL Sub-branch.
Bill Forrest was the keynote speaker, highlighting the service of all armed forces and reminding those present that the soldiers of countries we fought against did not hate the Australians, but were brainwashed to believe their emperors and leaders were in danger.
He spoke of the trenches, the jungles and the deserts that were now places of peace, but had witnessed such carnage in war time.
Mr Forrest also spoke of the great losses the Turkish had experienced in World War I and how welcoming they now were to Australians.
He said Australian soldiers, sailors, airmen and nurses had set such high examples through their service, that they were admired by all.
New England MP Barnaby Joyce was an apology for the service, but sent an Anzac Day address, which high school students read.
He said the day was one on which to reflect, remember and respect.
Mr Joyce reminded people to remember all servicemen and women who'd "made the ultimate sacrifice" and to remember it was a "solemn day of remembrance".
Representatives from the ADF and service clubs of the region laid wreaths around memorial on the Avenue of Honour to remember those who did not return and those who have died since their active service.
