NEW England Police are investigating after a gun was pulled on a motorist in an attempted carjacking in Girraween last night.

At about 9.30pm on Saturday, a vehicle stopped to allow two men to cross Queen Elizabeth Drive.
One of the men approached the male driver and after a short verbal exchange produced a firearm.
He then attempted to break the driver’s side window.

The men left the scene before assaulting a woman in a nearby carpark.
The woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to Armidale Hospital with facial injuries.
The male driver was not physically injured during the incident.
Officers from New England Police District were contacted and established a crime scene which is being forensically examined.
An investigation has been launched and police would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with inquiries.
One man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and was wearing an orange hooded-jumper.
The second man is also described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and was wearing a grey hooded-jumper.
Queen Elizabeth Drive was closed between Golgotha and Niagara streets and remained closed for a number of hours.
