Police were patrolling the West Tamworth area about midnight on Wednesday when they saw a vehicle in Ken Street.
Officers followed the car and activated lights and sirens to stop the driver in nearby Florida Street.
After speaking with the 45-year-old Tamworth driver, officers had cause to search the vehicle, and the woman.
During the search, police allegedly found an illegal taser stuffed in the woman’s left boot.
The item was seized by officers and the woman was issued a future court attendance notice for a charge of possessing a prohibited weapon.
In NSW, possessing a prohibited weapon carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
The woman will front court in May.
