First of all, the bowls coordinator watched as the 2018 Easter Tournament returned for another successful year.
“It went very well, it all went smoothly. I had nothing but compliments from the travelling bowlers,” Thorning said.
Thorning also managed to sneak in a bit of game time in over the Easter weekend which provided the bowler with even more success.
Thorning teamed up with Jason Douglas, Dylan Eather and Sam Pryor to take out the fours event at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club.
“It’s always good to win. It’s good to get back some of the money I’ve spent here,” Thorning joked.
“It was good to win and to win with a couple good mates – teammates and clubmates – always makes it better.
“There was a good crowd watching the fours final as well. It was good to see so many people come and support the tournament.”

Thorning’s side won the fours final against Norm Butler, Carl Schroder, Peter Schroder and Nev White 16-9 on Sunday.
On Friday and Saturday, players went head to head for the pairs event.
The semi-finals were hotly contested with both semis going down to the wire.
Lou Flett and Brian Sheppard clashed with Dylan Eather and Billy Ryman in one semi.
Eather and Ryman teamed up for the pairs after Eather’s original teammate, Sam Pryor, had to miss the pairs event.
Flett and Sheppard edged clear late to win the semi 14-12.
On the other side of the draw, Mick Hull and Ross Grudgfield clashed with Justin Knight and Tye Baker.
Hull and Grudgfield won in a playoff 11-10 to progress to the final which they won 27-13 to take out the title.
