On Friday, the school’s captains and prefects will join the student representative council (SRC) in a day of activities to start the conversation to end bullying.
But while it might be the national day against bullying, principal Daniel Wilson and his student leaders say bullying is targeted every day at their school.
“We’ve had a specific anti-bullying policy and procedures for the last four years,” Mr Wilson said.
“We’ve got a student support officer who works as part of our well being team and we have a strong leadership program where senior students act like mentors and support people on their last year at school.
“We have a strong program to educate the kids but a part of the issue is to educate the community about how it is an external issue and 99 per cent of the time most of the issues arise outside of the school by a means which we have no control over.”
The students said they’re happy to lead by example.

“What we are trying to do as prefects is trying to make the school equal, It’s not starting the conversation, it’s continuing it,” Vice captain, Josh Pike said.
“There’s all sorts of people at Tamworth High and everybody accepts everyone else and that is something that the seniors have always passed down,” Captain, Sophie McLeod said.
“It’s our job to keep making sure everyone is accepted and if we do see bullying we report it and make sure they’re ok.”
Captain Josh McCulloch said it was important his peers felt it was ok to talk.
The school will commemorate the day of action with a barbecue lunch, games and lollies distributed with positive affirmations on them to promote feelings of inclusiveness and harmony at the school.
