POLICE are hunting a gang who broke into a South Tamworth home and stole alcohol and a car.

The six offenders broke into the house in The Heights between 2.50am and 3.05am on Tuesday.

Once inside, they stole a one-litre bottle of scotch as well as the keys to a grey Mazda CX-9.

They also then took the car and fled.

About 3.35am, police were called to Tingira Street in Coledale following reports the same vehicle was being driven in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was last seen speeding off east along Robert Street into Woodward Avenue, shortly after.

Police alerted the residents to the break-in and CCTV from the house showed six offenders breaking in and stealing the goods while the occupants slept.

Police searched for the car on Tuesday but it was still outstanding.

Anyone who sights the vehicle is urged to contact Tamworth police.
