Tamworth Westpac Rescue Helicopter waterski marathon fundraiser at Chaffey Dam

More than 35 waterskiers were registered to take part in the day, the youngest about five right through to people in their sixties, from the North West, as well as the Hunter.

The 12-hour marathon saw the first boat roar off the shoreline about 6.30am with the event ending just after dusk.

It was the first time the event had been held since 2013 with the cooler conditions and clear autumn skies making it the perfect setting for a day of action.

Each participant raised sponsorship for their efforts from family, friends, workmates and business houses for the rescue helicopter.
