The 20-year-old New Zealand man was sentenced on Thursday, March 8, 2018 after pleading guilty to the attack on the Moree grandfather.
Heather was charged with unlawful striking causing death after he hit Mr Duroux, 40, on the head outside a Coolangatta pub in December 2015 while the then 18-year-old was celebrating his birthday.

Mr Duroux tried breaking up a fight outside the Coolangatta Hotel, and in the process was struck once in the head. He had to be resuscitated after going into cardiac arrest.
The beloved grandfather ended up in intensive care with serious head injuries and was kept alive on life support before his family decided to turn it off.
Mr Duroux, formerly of Tenterfield, moved to Moree 20 years prior to raise five children with his partner, the late Yvonne Pearl French.
