Australian Stock Horse Society National Show attracts riders from across the country

The 2018 Australian Stock Horse Society National Show is in full swing.

Encompassing dressage, campdraft, hack, challenge and led events, the show got underway on Thursday with the novice campdraft action.

Friday saw the dressage events commence.

They will continue over the weekend along with the campdrafting, with competition starting at 6am for the campdrafting both days and 7.30am (Saturday) and 8am (Sunday) in the main arena.

Among those competing is Kelly Plain’s Carleen McPhie.

Even a broken arm hasn’t stopped the 80-year-old her preparing 16-year-old mare Hyuna Curio for the dressage events at the championships.

The show has benefited from a surge in interest in recent years with campdraft entries up 20 per cent on last year and the dressage and ring events to capacity.
