Police will allege the 35-year-old senior constable assaulted the victim while he was off-duty on Tuesday, December 5.
Following investigations, the officer was issued a court attendance notice for charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
Police will allege the offences are of a domestic nature, but when questioned by Fairfax Media, a spokesperson for NSW Police declined to say where the incident occurred, or where the officer was stationed.
The spokesperson confirmed the officer is continuing to work but remains on restricted duties.
He will front court in Glen Innes on March 16.
It’s the second officer in the Western Region that has been charged this week.
On Sunday, NSW Police confirmed a visiting officer was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and indecent assault following an alleged incident in Tamworth during the country music festival while he was off-duty.
He has been granted conditional bail to front Dubbo court in April.
