Almost a week after North Tamworth failed to parlay a “good position” against Old Boys into a win, Redbacks opener Glenn Lewington is still kicking himself.

Lewington (19) was one of the top-order batsmen who didn’t support No.3 Michael Rixon (112), as Norths just failed to chase down Old’s 262 – dismissed for 245 at No.1 Oval last Saturday.
Lewington said the top order not performing was an issue that had plagued Norths all season, and it was one that needed to be rectified against City United at Riverside 1 on Saturday in the shadow of the finals.
This is a massive round for every team, except Old Boys.

Only 15.9 points separate second-placed West Tamworth and last-placed Bective East with two regular-season two-day matches remaining.
North are in fourth place. They will face a fifth-placed City outfit who are 2.34 points behind them on the ladder and who are coming off an outright defeat of Wests.
“This is a massive round for every team except [first placed] Old Boys,” Lewington said. “We’re at full strength again. There is no reason why we can’t put in a good performance.”
He added: “Most games we’ve had someone stand up [with the bat].
“Brendan [Rixon] has peeled off three tons and a 90. Mick [Rixon] started the year well, slowed in the middle and hit form on the weekend [against Old Boys].
“Someone has stood up most games. But it’s not up to one person – it’s up to the whole top order to do the job.”
