When she stands on stage, she delivers and connects with her songs and her audience on another level.
The Tasmanian-born songstress will launch her 50th birthday single at Wests on Friday night during the 24th annual Ladies of Country Show in the Legends Lounge and she wants festival goers to join in on all the action from 8pm.
It’s still a personal song but so funny.

She’s also hosting a 50th birthday bash concert at the same venue on Saturday from 8pm.
Timms’ audience will be introduced to her latest single Men on Pause and it’s catchy but relatable take on menopause - a mature woman’s rite of passage.
It’s bound to have festival goers in stitches.
“I’m feeling fantastic and really excited about turning 50,” Timms said.
“I’ve defeated cancer four times, survived a bad car accident and personally had some challenges.
“Musically, I hit my straps again in 2017 and it’s been amazing.”
In launching her latest album last year, Timms said she took a “punt” on her own music for the first time and wrote 90 per cent of the release herself.
It’s from there that her journey has seen her grow a strong following for not only her voice, but her songwriting too – and this year all roads will lead to Men on Pause.
“What happened was, the hot sweats came and it was menopause,” she said.
“I went to the doctor not knowing what it was, I thought I was sick and the doctor said, ‘it’s your hormones’.
“So I’m calling it Men on Pause, every time I had a hot flush moment on stage I’d say it was Men on Pause – it’s become a bit of a joke and I thought I could write a song about it.
“My songs are super heartfelt about things that happen in my life.
“But this is a bit of comedy, it’s still a personal song but so funny.”
The track all came together when she arrived in Sydney to work with Stuie French on the recording.
“I wanted to do something special for my 50th birthday and thought, it doesn’t need to be a whole album, so I’m giving myself a birthday present.”
Timms’ show on Friday night will feature 10 acts, all who are ladies of country.
“It feels a bit to me like coming home,” she said.
Timms is also coordinator and chief judge of the Aristocrat Country Entertainer of the Year quest, held annually at Wests Diggers, with the two heats held on the first Sunday of the festival and the grand final on Monday, January 22.
With a deep love and respect for traditional country music, Timms honours the trailblazers at every show, choosing from her extensive repertoire. Don’t miss out on Gina Timms this Friday and Saturday at Wests.
