There was understandably a degree satisfaction in Bective East skipper Adam Jones’ voice following his side’s Twenty20 win over West Tamworth at No.1 Oval on Sunday, although it was tinged with lament.

Bective will now play Old Boys in the Twenty20 final at No.1 Oval on Friday night, after defending 8-138 by bowling West Tamworth out for 123 in the last over.
While savouring the victory, Jones was left wondering why his side had been unable to duplicate their Twenty20 success in the longer forms of the game.
Bective are winless after eight rounds of first grade this season.
He said: “Batting has been a big issue. But we’ve had one or two moments in each game we’ve played where things haven’t quite gone our way. If they had we’d probably be sitting a bit better. Things today went our way.
“When you look at most games we’ve played this year, we’ve had opportunities to win … Things didn’t go our way and we didn’t take chances we should have. I think today we took those opportunities.”
After winning the toss and batting, Bective East were 1-1 when Jones went for one run off the bowling of Brock Ridgewell. Their innings was built on opener Coby Cornish’s 57-ball 64 and Lochie Barton’s 40-ball 37.
Three Wests bowlers picked up a wicket – Harrison Kelly, Ridgewell and Richard Bullock.
Jones did the bulk of the damage with the ball, claiming 5-21 off 3.3 overs to clean up the tail.
Lachlan Davidson snared 2-14 off four overs, while Shaun Stevenson (45) and skipper Dave Mudaliar (31) top-scored for Wests.
In the earlier game at No.1 Oval on Sunday, Old Boys chased down North Tamworth’s 8-115 with seven overs to spare.
Old Boys opener Simon Norvill hammered a 37-ball 68, while teammate Ricki Fenton bagged 3-4 off four overs.
The late match at No.1 Oval featured South Tamworth and City United.
