Jess Hill has had a passion for hospitality since a work experience stint at Hopscotch Cafe when she was 16, now two years and an HSC later, Ms Hill is packing her bags and “pumped” after being accepted to the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.
“I went for a three day course and afterwards I was told I would be a good candidate for the scholarship – the $20,000 goes towards accommodation and would make a huge difference,” Ms Hill said.
Amazingly the, now former, Oxley High student managed to juggle the HSC while holding down three jobs – at Hopscotch, 360 Gym and Wray’s Organic - and following her Bachelor’s degree in exactly the industry she wants to end up in.
“Food and beverage – I just love talking to people and meeting new people, you can make their day in a cafe,” Ms Hill said.
The winner will be announced at an Australian Hotel Association Awards night on November 21.
