The association held its annual general meeting on Wednesday where statistics were produced for the those in attendance.
The biggest increase was the total prizemoney on offer which increased by 34 per cent.
Thanks to a prizemoney increase by Racing NSW, $16,312,550 was won in the Hunter and North West region during the 2016-17 season compared to $12,172,650 during the 2015-16 season.
The average price on offer per meeting also increased by roughly $5000 while there were more races and more horses started too.
Hunter and North West Racing Association chairman Rod Watt said Racing NSW was looking to increase prizemoney even further in years to come.
“Whether it [prizemoney increase] happens will depend on many things and nothing is set in stone but that is the hope,” Watt said.
Watt said the most pleasing thing to see over the past season was the success of Rachael Murray.
Murray won a plethora of awards on her way to notching up 100 wins for the season including being named the Jockey of the Year at the Racing NSW Country Awards.
