Rangari Rd, which passes through Gunnedah, Narrabri and Tamworth council areas, is due for an urgent upgrade, according to Jim Maxwell.
Cr Maxwell has asked for action to be taken and told council chambers, at Tuesday’s meeting, he was “frightened someone could be killed on the road with the condition it’s in”.
Cr Maxwell asked if council could “expedite support” from its neighbouring shires to fix the road.
General manager, Paul Bennett, said it was already a priority for Tamworth Regional Council.
Rangari Rd will be prominent in a list of TRC projects set to hit, state MP, Kevin Anderson’s desk, Mr Bennett said.
Mr Bennett said the state government was “struggling to get money out the door” ahead of an upcoming election and seemed confident the project could get up.
