IT MIGHT be a walk in the park for the region’s hounds, but there’ll be some lessons on offer for local pet-owners.

The annual Gala Day for Dogs returns to Bicentennial Park on Sunday, a chance for dogs to strut their stuff with a range of events, awards, prizes and information from local orgainisations on offer.
There’s also a chance to adopt a new, furry family member.
Hundreds of four-legged friends are expected to be there to enjoy socialising while their proud owners will have the chance to learn more about being responsible pet ownership.
The highlight of the day will be the dog parade, with prizes awarded for best dressed, best owner/dog lookalike, and most vocal dogs.
Tamworth Regional Council manager of regulatory services, Ross Briggs, said the event is a great chance for animal lovers to enjoy a fun day out with their pets.
“Events throughout the day will include raffles, stalls, live music, a dog agility course and of course, the famous dog parade,” Mr Briggs said.
“Local rescue organisations will be present, with some lovely dogs available for adoption.
“The event gives council the chance to share important messages about the responsibilities that come with pet ownership, as well as demonstrating the services that are available to local pet owners.”
The gala day runs from 10am to 1pm on Sunday in Bicentennial Park.
