The Jake Mitchell-coached Tamworth side punched well above their weight and were unlucky not to snatch an upset win against their more fancied rivals.
Max Cullerton was outstanding in goal repelling a number of powerful shots from the city side.
The Tamworth team’s youngest player Joey Mitchell scored twice and Riley Childs found his range early, nailing a hat-trick.
The result has given the squad a huge morale booster as they prepare for their second game later in the evening.
The Tamworth team is Max Cullerton, Riley Childs, William Mair, Joey Mitchell, Harry Baillie, Thomas Mair, Cameron Martin, Edmund Bourke, Robert Mair and Brad Froud.
