The free event is the brainchild of the recently formed Tamworth Regional Youth Council, who felt there was a need for more fun, safe and relevant youth activities in the Tamworth Region.

The fun-filled even will run from 2pm to 6pm and includes giant dominoes, giant Jenga, painting, market stalls, a rock climbing wall, live painting from local artist Danny Stanley and food vendors.

Live music and entertainment will keep the atmosphere buzzing throughout the afternoon and there are also prizes up for grabs.

Tamworth Regional Council’s youth services coordinator Sammy Bowen said this was the first significant event for the Youth Council, which was formed in February to give the region’s youth a “real voice” to make a difference in the community.

“The Youth Council is doing some great work in tackling issues they feel are important,” Mrs Bowen said.

“Everyone is welcome on the day, and the event is free to attend. There will be some delicious food available for purchase, as well as great live music from local youth, games, activities and even prizes.”

Mrs Bowen said the event would also have information about mental health and where young people can seek help.

TRC community care manager Heather Lynn said the Youth Council was proactively tackling issues affecting the region’s youth.

“The Youth Council has been meeting each month, and the ideas they have are just fantastic,” she said.

“To see them deliver an amazing community event not six months after forming is a great achievement for them.

“It would be so great to see the community support these young leaders, and head down to Bicentennial Park on Saturday 23 September to enjoy a great afternoon out.”

Should the weather not be kind on Saturday, the show will still go on in the Tamworth Town Hall.
