And now the Glen Innes Magpies have the opportunity to snag their second premiership.
The Magpies finished this season as minor premiers and beat the Armidale Rams on Sunday to qualify for the decider.
Glen Innes take on the Moree Boomerangs, who claimed a 14-12 win the last time they clashed two weeks ago, in the grand final at Boggabilla Sportsground on Saturday.
Moree’s physicality overawed the Magpies in the semi-final but co-coach David Biddle said his team will be ready to match it in the big dance.
“We will take them on,” he said.
“They will be hard to beat the Boomerangs.
“Because they're a fairly physical side.
“And they will have everything to play for.
“They will try and bully us.
“They will come in and double team you.
“One will grab the tag and the other will shoulder you out of the way.
“That's the way they play their game.”
Biddle said although their opponents will try to out-muscle them, the Magpies will stick to what they do best.
“Our preparation, we will be just going a lot of tuning up on what we have been doing all year I suppose,” he said.
“Just the finer points.
“It's no good going out there trying to get them any fitter.
“It is too late for that.
“It is all the skills and drills at the moment and teamwork.
“That's all we will be doing.
“And just hope that it is good enough for Saturday. It is all a mental attitude now.
“How they turn up and how they prepare themselves.”
Question marks remain over the availability of some of the squad’s members. A handful sustained injuries in recent games.
But Biddle is confident they will have a strong side.
The game commences at 10am.
The first grade grand final between the Warriors and the Eels starts at 3pm.
