Officers cornered the 17-year-old, who cannot be identified because of his age, inside a Bent St house in Tamworth, shortly before 11am on Tuesday.
Police allege he broke into the Ghanda Clothing Store and Empower Clothing by forcing entry.
The teen is alleged to have been in company during one of the break-ins and kicked the door in before stealing $1700 worth of cash from the counter.
He’s also alleged to have forced the door to the second business and ransacked part of the store.
He was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged and refused bail by officers.
The teen appeared in Tamworth Children’s Court but was denied bail by Magistrate Roger Prowse who ordered him to stay in custody until the case returns to court in October.
