At Tuesday’s meeting councilors voted in favour of rezoning a 246 hectare slice of council-owned land to an industrial and business area, between Westdale and the Glen Artney estate.
Councillor Russell Webb said it was one of the “most exciting” decisions this council has made.
“This piece of land will be a jewel in the crown in years to come,” he said.
“You talk to government ministers and they’re noticing what’s happening here.
“Government agencies are seeing what’s happening here and it’s an integral part of the development of regional NSW.”
Council will have to make an amendment to its Local Environment Plan, subject to a gateway determination by the NSW Department of Planning.
NSW Minister for Planning, Anthony Roberts, will launch the New England North West regional plan at AgQuip on Wednesday.
