The artist stopped in Tamworth this week on a radio tour to promote her first Australian release, the single Ish from her soon to be released third album.
It’s her second visit to the country music capital in eight months, she performed in the Flags of Country, International Music Muster at the 2017 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
She said she’ll also be back in January for the 2018 event.
Nelson was the 2016 Winner of the Canadian Country Music Association’s Spotlight Contest and was also a showcase performer at the 2016 Americana Fest in Nashville, USA.
She performed at the Broadbeach Country Music Festival at the Gold Coast last month to packed crowds.
“This time I came to Australia to perform at the Broadbeach festival, but every time I come here I end up staying longer than I planned,” Nelson told The Leader.
“I decided to do a bit of a radio tour and get out and meet everyone.
“Although I’ve been performing in Canada for many years, this is my third CD and my first song release in Australia.
“I haven’t had a chance to meet everyone and I’m still very new to the market.”
Nelson said she enjoyed her first visit to Tamworth and she was pleased with the reaction from country fans when she performed.
She also said while there are no kangaroos in Canada, the Tamworth landscape was similar to back home.
The new single has also reached the top 20 on the KIX country music charts.
“I feel like people on the other side of the world have no idea what they’re missing out on, this is great,” she said.
It’s full steam ahead for the artist, who will perform with golden guitar winning sensation Kirsty Lee Akers this month with the hopes of also taking in the Gympie Music Muster before heading back to Canada for the Canadian country music festival.
