The club finished with 138 nominations today for Friday’s eight-race TAB meeting and comes off a “fantastic” meeting last Sunday week, advised TJC general manager Kay Jeffrey.
“That was a fantastic day, great crowd including the markets,” she said.
“[We] had people who had never been to the races before who may come back. It created a lot of interest and showcased our great sport to the community.”
She said there was no limit where that interest could head.
Jeffrey believed it could end up seeing people buying shares in racing horses.
She also believes it is a good run into, not only this meeting but, some other major meetings and events over the next few months.
The club races again on Monday, August 29 and on September 12 followed by an October 15 meeting which could feature the annual Romantic Dream 2YO Plate.
The TJC also stages a big night on Thursday, August 24 when a charity fundraiser for the family of Darren Jones will be held.
The Tamworth jockey was tragically killed in a race fall at Warialda back in April.
Hugh Bowman and Malcolm Johnston are special guests on a night to be emceed by Sky Racing’s Greg Radley.
It will also double as a presentation night for the Hunter and North West Racing Association where Paul Perry (trainer), Rachael Murray (jockey) and Vlad Bolozhinskyi (apprentices) will receive their 2016-17 premiership awards.
